The answer is simple to some: the Jaguars. Duh. However, almost four days have passed since the Cleveland lost and my optimism has been refueled. So? With optimism comes hope for the Wild Card spot! The Browns and Jaguars don’t exactly have what you call a “history”. All that I really know about Cleveland itself is that it is one of the cheapest places in America to live. The only thing I really know about the Browns is that the sure do love their staph infections. Yesterday we took a look at the political contributions of the Dallas Cowboys, the Washington Redskins, the New England Patriots, the New York Giants, the New York Jets, the Houston Texans, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Indianapolis Colts. The reason that football players make ridiculous amounts of money isn’t because they don’t earn it. But Jeanne, how could you say that? You’re going to be a teacher next year and everyone loves comparing a teacher’s salary to a football player’s salary to make the point that athletes make too much! The difference is that teachers are government employees. The way football players make their money is through selling their product which is, of course, entertainment. Duval County (aka all of Jacksonville) opened up early voting today. That means that you don’t have to wait until November 4th to cast your vote! Last night Jacksonville police arrested a man they described as bent on revenge in Richard Collier’s shooting case. On September 2, Collier was shot fourteen times and as a result is paralysed from the waist down and also had one of his legs amputated. Cell phone data and witness interviews led to the arrest of Tyrone Romaro Hartsfield. He is accused of attempted murder.  From the Florida Times Union:  Police believe that when he saw Collier at the Square One nightclub on the evening of Sept. 1, Hartsfield was out to seek revenge for punches thrown at Soho a few months before. In some ways, a bye week is a huge relief. You get to take a breath, count your losses and feel optimism to seep back into your feelings on the season. We’re .500! Our offensive line is coming back! Apparently, NFL fans forgot that the Jacksonville Jaguars took on the Denver Bronco’s 26th ranked run defense as they voted up Maurice Jones-Drew’s 125 yard, two touchdown game. Either that or happy fantasy owners flocked to the polls. Whatever the reason, Jones-Drew won the Fed-Ex Ground Player of the Week. He definitely deserved the win because he was a big part in Jacksonville’s first convincing win all season. Thank you Mojo fans for voting up the first Jaguar to receive this award.
