4. Bronco the Jaguars must account for in Week 8: Jerry Jeudy, WR

One of the Broncos’ biggest strengths before the start of the 2022 season was their wide receiver corps, and even though they lost Tim Patrick for the year with a torn ACL, the group is still in pretty good shape thanks to the presence of Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy.

That Russell Wilson hasn’t been able to get the most out of his arsenal of weapons, that’s the subject of another column but there’s no denying both Sutton and Jeudy give him a duo of terrific targets.

A first-round pick in the 2019 draft, Jeudy hasn’t arguably lived up to expectations but it’s also worth noting that the Broncos’ carousel at the quarterback position might have had a negative impact on his development. Nevertheless, the Jaguars can’t afford to sleep on him in Week 8. After all, the Alabama product is averaging 16.1 yards per reception this year and while he might not get as many targets as Sutton, he’s certainly got big-play potential.

3. Bronco the Jaguars must account for in Week 8: Melvin Gordon, RB

Even though Melvin Gordon was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2015, it’s hard to picture him not being with the Broncos, where he’s spent the last three seasons. Although Denver had made Javonte Williams their No. 1 running back in 2022, the plan came to a halt when the former North Carolina Tar Heel suffered a season-ending ACL injury against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 4.

Gordon is averaging less than four yards per carry this season and might have lost a step. However, Jacksonville has struggled to defend the run in recent weeks, which makes the former first-round pick someone they can’t afford to take lightly in Week 8.
