No. 3 former Jaguars player without a team – Leonard Fournette, RB.

Here’s another player that was part of the 2017 Jaguars team that made the conference championship game but this one played offense. Running back Leonard Fournette had success right out of the gate, amassing over 1,000 rushing yards in his rookie campaign.

Just like other players on this list, he was part of the purge that David Caldwell oversaw but instead of being traded like Calais Campbell, he was outright released. At the time, the reason behind the decision kind of made sense. The team found a starting running back James Robinson and wanted to feature him on offense. However, Fournette and Robinson could have coexisted and formed a dynamic running back tandem.

In the end, Fournette went to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and played an important role on offense during their championship run in 2020, turning into ‘Super Bowl Lenny’ and totaling 448 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns.

Last season, the LSU Tiger appeared in 14 games with 13 starts and racked up 180 carries for 812 yards with eight touchdowns. Outside of James Conner, who signed a three-year deal, there hasn’t been much demand for running backs in free agency, which could work in the Jaguars’ favor and help them sign one. With Travis Etienne coming off a Lisfranc injury and James Robinson rehabbing a torn Achilles, Fournette would give the Jags a quality running back that could start games if needed.
