No. 3 player who could sing swan song with Jaguars – Laquon Treadwell, WR.

Wide receiver Laquon Treadwell has been one of the bright spots of a Jaguars’ team that has won just two games in 2021. Back when the team signed him last offseason, it looked like nothing more than a depth move but the former first-round pick showed enough that he had a realistic shot to make the 53-man roster. Ultimately, he was released during the last round of cuts before the start of the season but the Jags quickly signed him to their practice squad.

Treadwell joined the active roster in November and became the team’s number one target after injuries depleted their wide receiver corps. While he’s had some head-scratching drops, he’s been the Jaguars’ most reliable contributor on offense over the last month. His 410 yards this season are a career-high and he’s six catches away from setting a career-high in receptions too. He should get them in the Week 17 game against the Colts.

On a good team, the 23rd overall pick in the 2016 draft would be the third or fourth option in the passing game, but he’s making the most of his chance in Jacksonville and his stock has increased ahead of free agency.

Whoever ends up becoming the Jaguars’ new head coach should strongly consider bringing Treadwell back but nobody should blame him if he wants to join a more stable situation somewhere else. While the wide receiver hasn’t played up to his draft billing, he’s certainly developed into a good complementary player.
