4. Jaguars player that must shine vs. the 49ers – Dan Arnold

Tight end Dan Arnold has seen his workload increase in recent weeks and has quietly become the Jaguars’ top target in the passing game and J.P. Shadrick of the team’s official website recently found an interesting tidbit.

Since being traded to the Jags after Week 3, Arnold and wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. are tied for the most catches among Jaguars offensive players. While Jones has found the end zone once in that snap, Arnold has logged more yards. The tight end has become someone quarterback Trevor Lawrence trusts in the passing game.

After the loss to the Colts, Arnold told the local media he needs to play better and instead of blaming the rookie passer for Jacksonville’s inability to score, he held himself accountable and said he needs to play better. He added it was probably his worst game as a member of the Jags but he was still productive, logging five receptions for 75 yards.

The Jaguars will need Arnold to come up against the Niners, which may be a challenge, as their defense ranks sixth in yards allowed. Still, he needs to draw coverage his way from his teammates.
