2. Who will be the Jacksonville Jaguars starting quarterback?

Jake Luton played surprisingly well in his first start and questions about him becoming the Jaguars starting quarterback for the remainder of the season came up. However, those questions have been quickly put to rest after the rookie’s struggles in the last two games.

In the last two weeks, the Oregon State standout threw just one touchdown and five interceptions and has prompted questions about Gardner Minshew II getting his old job back. Keep in mind that the possibility of Luton becoming the starter arose from Minshew’s own struggles at the position.

Before the Jaguars Week 7 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, head coach Doug Marrone made it known the team was considering benching Minshew. In the end, he had the decision made for him when X-rays showed the sophomore quarterback had multiple fractures and a strained ligament in his right thumb.

Minshew has started throwing again and Marrone hasn’t shot down the possibility of the Washington State product getting back in the lineup. Looking at Luton’s struggles, the coaching staff may decide to go with Minshew for the remainder of the season.

By now, the second-year quarterback hasn’t shown he is the long-term answer at the position, but if he plays well, he will have his stock increase and make sure he will have other possibilities in the future.
