3. When will the Jacksonville Jaguars get Doug Marrone the boot?

At this point, it seems like a matter of when and not it when it comes to the ‘Jags’ terminating the employment of head coach Doug Marrone. The injury bug has struck the team hard in 2020 and the front office hasn’t gotten enough playmakers, but the bottom line is that this Jacksonville team has just won one game this season.

This isn’t a one-year outlier either as Marrone has won 23 games and has lost 27 in his tenure as the Jaguars head coach. He isn’t simply getting the job done and doesn’t seem like the right person to turn the fortunes of the organization around.

To his credit, Marrone knows the end may be near and knows he’s more worried about his players and the staff. This is just a speculation that may be proven to be wrong, but looking at his sitdowns with the local media, it seems like he’s just going through the motions and is expecting to get the pink slip sooner rather than later.

Shahid Khan has shown he’s a very patient owner and hasn’t fired people just for the sake of it. He parted ways with executive vice president Tom Coughlin until he really had to. The same is true for former head coach Gus Bradley, who got fired with only two games left in 2016.

Truth to be told, firing Marrone wouldn’t accomplish much but it has to be done. When will it happen? It could be towards the end of the season, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the Jaguars waited after the season ended to relieve the head coach of his duties.
