The Jacksonville Jaguars may end up being Super Bowl contenders in 2022. By the end of 2023, it looked like they might be already as they lost to the eventual champion Kansas City Chiefs by one score in the second round.

With some smart moves, they might be even better in 2023. They also will likely not start 2-6 which put extra pressure on them down the stretch.

One way that they can make a huge impact on their team this off-season is the 2023 NFL Draft. In fact, with the 24th overall pick, they can find a player that changes their franchise forever.

It is a lot different than making the first overall pick which they did in 2021 and 2022. If they make one of these selections, the franchise could be in a very good place long term:

1. Michael Mayer

Michael Mayer could be someone that helps the Jaguars for a long time.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a team looking for a long-term solution at the tight end position. Evan Engram is a veteran player that is outstanding but he will be playing the 2023 on the franchise tag. We have no idea what his long-term future is.

The Jaguars may want to address that need as soon as possible. They can look to Notre Dame star Michael Mayer in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. If he is there at pick 24, they should absolutely consider taking him.

Mayer was dominant during his time with the Irish and he can make a claim as the best tight end in the draft as a result. Trevor Lawrence clearly benefitted from having a stud tight end in 2022 so the Jags might want to make sure that is always the case.
