The Jacksonville Jaguars are heading into the 2023 NFL Draft with tremendous excitement. At pick 24, they are hoping to add a player that can help them compete for the Super Bowl right away.

There are other rounds in the draft though and smart decisions in those areas could really be the key to this team having sustained success.

People won't be associating quarterbacks with the Jaguars as much because of the fact that Trevor Lawrence is a franchise guy. However, that doesn't mean they shouldn't be doing their homework on the guys coming out of the draft.

Some people think you should select one every single year just in case. Well, if the Jaguars do want to draft a new backup for Lawrence, one of these might be a good option:

1. Stetson Bennett

Stetson Bennett is someone that makes a lot of sense for the Jaguars.

Most college football fans know who Stetson Bennett is. He was the quarterback for the University of Georgia when they were at their very best over the last handful of years.

Bennett won a lot while playing at Georgia. Sometimes it is confusing why guys like him get no respect when it comes to their potential at the pro level. He is going to be a pick in the very late rounds of the draft (likely the seventh round).

Bennett was a two-time SEC champion and a two-time College Football National Champion. Those two National Championships of College Football came in back-to-back years (2021, 2022).

If he came in and learned under Lawrence, the Jaguars could have a great backup for a long time. He also has some huge game experience which he handled very well. If Lawrence was ever unavailable for a big-time game under the bright lights, Bennett has the nerves to handle it.

If Bennett is available when the Jaguars come up to select later in the draft, he should be on their radar.
