Jaguars' division foe takes biggest L of the offseason with uniform reveal
The Houston Texans are the team to beat in the AFC South. Coming off their first division title since 2019, they made enough moves in the offseason to protect their crown in 2024. But as good as the Texans could potentially be next season, fans of the Jacksonville Jaguars can do nothing but laugh at their uniform reveal.
Houston just unveiled their new uniforms and it's fair to say that they don't look great. While some fans of the team have had positive things to say, they have gotten lots of flak from the rest of the league. One of the biggest critiques is that they tried to copy the design of the Minnesota Vikings helmet.
You be the judge, but it does look like it. It hasn't been brought up nearly as often but it kind of resembles the Philadelphia Eagles helmet, but instead of wings on the side, it's horns. Add the fact that they're Electric Red and they're not the most pleasant sight to behold.
There's also an alternate helmet, the one with the H on the sides. At first sight, this isn't the worst idea, as it represents the city the Texans play at. However, the execution wasn't great. It seems like they were trying to go for a simple look but it ends up looking dull.
The Jaguars throwback uniforms are better than the Texans' ones
The Houston Texans, by all accounts, are having a great offseason. Besides signing Danielle Hunter in free agency, they managed to trade for wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The fact that they managed to land him in exchange for just a sixth-round pick makes the trade look even better. However, their uniform reveal has left much to be desired. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be wearing their original gear.
The Jags' current uniforms, the ones they started wearing in 2019, weren't necessarily bad but they weren't great either. They were Teal, so at least they had that going for them. That said, they didn't stand out, and that's what you want. They don't have to be flashy, but they have to look different from the rest. The throwbacks accomplish that.
The team hasn't revealed them yet — that will tentatively be in May — but based on a potential leak, the design will be faithful to the original one.
As you can see, the Jaguar on the sleeves will make a comeback. Similarly, the yellow and black stripes are back, and that was one of their defining characteristics. Of course, everyone has different tastes, and there may be fans who liked the ones Jacksonville wore during the mid-2010s but the truth is that most fans prefer the throwbacks, and you won't hear many complaints when the Jags wear them again.
So far, the Jacksonville Jaguars have had a fruitful offseason. Like the Houston Texans, they've made several upgrades and are positioning themselves to compete in the AFC South. Unlike their division foes, they will wear a uniform that actually looks great.
