The Jacksonville Jaguars have a well-rounded roster. While they have a few weaknesses, most of them related to depth, they also have several strengths heading into the 2024 NFL season. This will be helpful in case injury strikes but it will also give them the flexibility to trade a handful of players.

After all, general manager Trent Baalke has never shied away from shipping his own players. This is why it wouldn't be shocking to see him take calls regarding the following five in the upcoming months.

The Jaguars could trade away RB D'Ernest Johnson

The Jaguars' running back appeared at No. 12 in Pro Football Focus rankings. This makes sense when you take into account that Travis Etienne is one of their most vital pieces on offense. Moreover, sophomore Tank Bigsby is expected to make a leap next season. Behind them is D'Ernest Johnson, a reliable veteran who can make plays if called upon.

Last year, Johnson became RB2 on the depth chart when Bigsby struggled. But if the latter does improve as the team's brass projects, the former will become the third-stringer again. Add the fact that Jacksonville used a fifth-round pick on Texas' Keilan Robinson, and they might decide to place Johnson on the trade block.

Before joining the Jags in 2023, the former South Florida Bull spent four seasons with the Cleveland Browns. While he got limited opportunities behind Nick Chubbs and Kareem Hunt, he made the most of them, averaging 5.2 yards per carry. That kind of playmaking skills could make him an appealing trade target for teams that either need help at running back or suffer an injury at the position.

You could argue that the Jaguars won't consider trading Johnson because they just gave him a one-year deal. But as Trent Baalke proved in 2021, he's not afraid of moving on from players who just got a new contract. That year, he re-signed cornerback Sidney Jones only to trade him before the regular season started.
