Jaguars vs. Chargers: 5 bold predictions for Super Wild Card Weekend
2. The Jaguars front seven will sack Justin Herbert 4 times in the playoffs
As Laurie Fitzpatrick of the Touchdown Wire noted, the Jaguars’ defensive front is getting hot at the right time. Mike Caldwell’s scheme has put defensive end Arden Key and outside linebacker Josh Allen in favorable situations but their safeties have also done a good job of applying pressure.
Just last week, safety Rayshawn Jenkins stripped sacked Titans quarterback Joshua Dobbs and Caldwell will probably dial blitzes against the Chargers. Given how successful the Jaguars have been at getting after the quarterback, they should be able to register four sacks Saturday.
1. Trevor Lawrence will throw for 3 touchdowns against the Chargers
Is it really bold to suggest that Trevor Lawrence will throw three touchdowns against the Chargers when he already did it in Week 3? That was Lawrence’s first three-touchdown game of the season and one that made him the talk of the town in the national media.
Then again, these are the playoffs and this will be a bigger stage. The fact that Lawrence cooled down a bit near the end of the regular season could be a cause for concern but he’s shown that he can play at a high level, which is why he should be able to throw three touchdowns against the Bolts again.
