Jaguars versus NY Jets: 5 bold predictions for Thursday Night Football
2. The Jaguars defense will limit the NY Jets to 200 total yards of offense
The Jaguars’ defense has shown an affinity to forcing turnovers and has built its identity around that particular skill. On the other hand, they have at times struggled to stop opponents from moving the ball.
Coming off a game in which safety Rayshawn Jenkins had a walk-off pick six, the Jags’ should be able to stymie the Jets’ offense. Mike White, who has shown drive and grit since taking over at quarterback, will most likely have to sit this one out with a rib injury. If Zach Wilson ends up getting the starting nod, he might have a hard time leading New York into Jaguars territory.
Before getting benched, Wilson was underwhelming, and there’s no reason to think he’s changed much since then, which should allow Jacksonville to limit him and the Jets to 200 yards of offense or fewer.
1. The Jaguars will get their 7th win, get closer to the AFC South title
The Jaguars are surging in power rankings while the Titans are tumbling down. Similarly, they’re just one game behind their division foes after winning four of their last six games. Conversely, Tenessee has four straight and doesn’t seem to know how to stop the bleeding.
The Titans will next face off against a Houston Texans team that has been desperately searching for their second win of the season and just took the Kansas City Chiefs to overtime. Expect the Jags to dispose of the Jets in Week 16 and the Titans to fall, which would put the former in the driver’s seat for the AFC South title this season.
