Jaguars versus NY Jets: 5 bold predictions for Thursday Night Football
4. Travis Etienne will go over 100 yards on Thursday Night Football
Running back Travis Etienne had a pretty productive four-game stretch early in the season, toting the rock 76 times for 465 times with four touchdowns from Weeks 6 to 9. However, the 25th overall pick in last year’s draft then went on to have a drought spell, which he ended when he logged 103 yards on 19 carries against the Cowboys.
Etienne should have no trouble getting his fifth 100-yard game of the season and surpassing the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his young NFL career. Although New York’s defense ranks third in yards allowed and fourth in touchdowns allowed in the league, that shouldn’t stop the sophomore running back. After all, he’s also had success running against Dallas and the Kansas City Chiefs, who also excel at defending the run.
3. The Jaguars O-Line will not allow a sack vs. the Jets
The Cowboys’ have one of the most dominant defensive fronts in the NFL. Yet, they only mustered a sack against Jacksonville. Even though Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence often applied pressure up front, Trevor Lawrence remained unfazed thanks to the work of the hog mollies up front.
Left tackle Cam Robinson is probably out for the season but Walker Little should do a good job of watching over Lawrence’s blindside. Similarly, the trio of Tyler Shatley, Luke Fortner, and Brandon Scherff should be able to neutralize the impact of mammoth defensive tackles Quinnen Williams and John Franklin-Meyers.
