1. The Trevor Lawrence and Christian Kirk connection is up to a good start

This shouldn’t surprise anyone that has been keeping track of all the moves the Jaguars have made since the end of the 2021 season. After wasting Trevor Lawrence’s rookie campaign, the organization looked for a head coach that could get the most out of the young passer, and they chose Doug Pederson after an extensive search.

Pederson’s presence and tutelage will benefit Lawrence greatly but hiring the Super Bowl-winning head coach wasn’t the only significant move the Jags made in the offseason. They also revamped their wide receiver corps and got Lawrence a new pair of targets in Christian Kirk and Zay Jones.

To nobody’s surprise, Lawrence and Kirk were responsible for the highlight of the first practice of Jaguars training camp. They connected for a 25-yard completion over several defenders. John Shipley described it as a “wow-level” throw but he was far from the only that took notice.

Here’s Demetrius Harvey of Big Cat Country.

And here’s Mia O’Brien of 1010 XL, who is most likely talking about the same throw. Either way, she has high praise for Lawrence.

The Jaguars gave Christian Kirk a four-year contract worth $72 million in free agency, and they were severely criticized for doing so. They expect him to be their No. 1 receiver. So far, it looks like they’re getting an early return on their investment.

Keep in mind that it’s just one throw but it’s encouraging to see the former Texas A&M Auggie developing a rapport with Lawrence, and that could be just the first one of many more to come.
