No. 2 Jaguars player who could become a star in 2022 – Tyson Campbell, CB

Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke wasn’t a popular figure in Jacksonville during the organization’s search for a new head coach due to his poor reputation around league circles and his lack of success late in his stint with the San Francisco 49ers. However, he will have a chance to redeem himself if he can acquire enough talent and help the Jags win more games.

Baalke’s 2021 draft class (his first one with the Jags) has potential, even when you take Trevor Lawrence out of the equation. Cornerback Tyson Campbell, offensive tackle Walker Little, and safety Andre Cisco could become building blocks. In particular, Campbell is set to make meaningful strides in Year 2.

The former Georgia Bulldog struggled to track the ball during the preseason and early in the 2021 campaign. The fact that he was dealing with a foot injury didn’t help matters but once he was healthy and got a bit more acclimated to the NFL, he became an asset in the Jags’ secondary. Despite the fact that the team’s brass signed Darious Williams in free agency, Campbell will most likely start opposite Shaquill Griffin in Week 1.

Looking back, it seems like the Jaguars got it right when they selected Campbell with the 33rd overall pick in last year’s draft. He led the team in interceptions with two in 2021 and it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Georgia native surpass that amount this upcoming season.
