No. 1 Jaguars best pairing – CBs Shaquill Griffin and Tyson Campbell

Cornerback is the Jaguars’ biggest strength ahead of the 2022 season. Even though the Jags had a solid starting duo in Tyson Campbell and Shaquill Griffin, they still went on to sign Darious Williams in free agency. Moreover, they took Gregory Junior and Montaric Brown with back-to-back picks in this year’s draft.

Having said that, Campbell and Griffin will still be the Jaguars’ top two cornerbacks in 2022. The duo play well last year and were a bright spot on a team that didn’t have many. Griffin signed a three-year deal last year. He quickly became a veteran presence in the locker room and was voted team captain by his teammates. The former UCF Knight held his own even though the Jags’ pass rush struggled to get to opposing quarterbacks.

But as good as Griffin was last season, Campbell might have been even better. The former Clemson Tiger struggled early in the season but once he found his footing, he got progressively better and led the team with two interceptions. If he continues to improve in 2022, he should have no trouble getting more and have a realistic chance to become the first Jaguars cornerback selected to the Pro Bowl since Jalen Ramsey in 2019.

NFL teams need as many cornerbacks as they can get their hands on and the Jaguars are in the enviable position of having talent and depth at the position, something they haven’t had in big quantities in recent years.
