No. 2 Jaguars best pairing – WRs Christian Kirk and Marvin Jones Jr.

Wide receiver was an area of focus for the Jaguars this offseason, so they signed Christian Kirk and Zay Jones in free agency. You might not agree with the amount Jones and Kirk got paid but the truth is that they will give a boost to a group in serious need of it.

Kirk will be the Jags’ No. 1 receiver while Jones will step into a feature role. Marvin Jones Jr. will join them in the starting lineup, giving the Jaguars a solid trio of pass-catchers. This is great news for Trevor Lawrence who is set to make a leap in Year 2 and will need all the weapons he can get. Marvin Jones was one of the few he could count on last year. The duo connected 73 times for 832 yards with four touchdowns and should have no trouble putting up good numbers once again.

With Kirk now in the mix, Jones will be able to find more favorable matches. Kirk is the most effective when lining up in the slot. Last season, he lined up inside on 79 percent of his offensive snaps and went on to post career numbers but the Jaguars’ coaching staff will move him around and look for favorable matchups.

The Jaguars haven’t had a 1,000-yard wide receiver since DJ Chark Jr. accomplished the feat in 2019. But that could change this year due to the presence of Kirk and Jones.
