No. 1 most winnable game on Jaguars schedule – Week 1 @ Commanders.

There are many things to like about the Washington Commanders. They have a dynamic running back in Antonio Gibson and one of the most underrated wide receivers in the league in Terry McLaurin. On the defensive side of the ball, they had a talented defensive front. Even though defensive end Chase Young dealt with injuries for most of the 2021 campaign, the rest of the group picked up the slack and managed to amass 38 sacks.

On the other hand, the Commanders entered the offseason without a long-term answer at quarterback, which led them to pull the trigger on a trade for Carson Wentz. The second overall pick in the 2016 draft is already in his third club in as many years, so it’s hard to tell how much of an upgrade he will be in Washington.

After a subpar 2020 season, the Philadelphia Eagles traded Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts. It was thought that the signal-caller was going to be able to bounce back under the tutelage of head coach Frank Reich, his offensive coordinator in Philly. However, he was underwhelming and failed to lift up his team. With a chance to qualify for the playoffs in Week 18 of the 2021 season, Wentz and Indy came crashing down in Jacksonville.

Coincidentally, the Jaguars will face off against Wentz’s Commanders in the season opener. Even though the game will be held at FedEx Field, the Jags should get their first ‘W’ of the year.
