No. 2 big-name free agent Jaguars must sign in 2022 –  De’Vondre Campbell.

Even though the Jaguars’ ranked 28th in points allowed last season, they often did a good job of slowing down opposing offenses. They also showed how dominant they could be in the team’s three wins of the season.

While there are some pieces on defense, the Jaguars need to keep adding talent in order to go from “flash in the pan” to a top-notch unit. Myles Jack had a down year in 2021 and Damien Wilson is scheduled to become a free agent. If the front office wants to revamp their linebacker corps, they can add De’Vondre Campbell in free agency.

A fourth-round selection by the Atlanta Falcons in 2016, Campbell has been one of the best linebackers in the league over the last three years but it was only until 2021 that he got the national spotlight and earned a First-Team All-Pro selection for the first time in his career after logging 146 total tackles, six tackles for a loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and two interceptions.

Campbell signed a modest $2 million, one-year deal with the Green Bay Packers last season but should be able to cash in this offseason after having a breakout campaign in 2021. His 85.5 Pro Football Focus grade was the second-best among NFL linebackers last season, only surpassed by Micah Parsons. The Jaguars would probably need to let Wilson walk in free agency if they want to sign Campbell but there’s no doubt he would give their defense a boost.
