Jaguars mock draft, third round, 65th overall pick, Charlie Kolar, TE.

Just like last year, this won’t be a particularly strong tight end class. The difference is that Kyle Pitts was a lock to be drafted in the top 5. The Atlanta Falcons ended up taking the Florida product at number four and the Pittsburgh Steelers then took Pat Freiermuth in the second round. Looking back, the Jaguars should’ve taken the former Nittany Lion but there’s not much they can do but focus on fortifying their offense next year.

There might not be a tight end drafted in the first round next year, which means that the Jaguars could get a quality prospect in the third round. Charlie Kolar would be a solid get with the 65th overall selection. The Iowa State standout has a 6-6, 260-pound frame and the physicality to thrive at the NFL level.

In 44 collegiate games, Kolar caught 164 passes for 2,148 yards and 22 touchdowns. He doesn’t possess elite athleticism and he doesn’t run great routes, per Ian Cummings of Pro Football Network. However, he can sharpen his route-running skills in the NFL. Tight end was one of the Jaguars’ biggest needs this past offseason but they failed to address it properly. They can’t afford to neglect the position for the second year in a row.
