Jaguars second-round pick in 2022 draft – Chris Olave, wide receiver

Even though Trevor Lawrence is in the early stages of his NFL career, it looks like he’s the real deal and the Jaguars’ long-term answer at quarterback. The former Clemson Tiger is getting better by the week in spite of a less-than-stellar surrounding cast. The Jaguars can’t fail him next offseason and need to rectify that. They can start by upgrading their wide receiver corps.

DJ Chark Jr. is set to become a free agent next season. The front office could either bring him back or target someone like Allen Robinson or Michael Gallop in free agency. However, they can’t stop there and need to add another one in the NFL draft.

Even if the Jaguars take Kayvon Thibodeaux in the first round, they will have a shot at acquiring a quality wide receiver in the second round. Garrett Wilson of Ohio State, projected to go in the top 10, will most likely be the first one off the board but the Jags can land his teammate, Chris Olave, with the 35th overall pick.

Olave may not garner as much attention as Wilson ahead of the draft process but he could make the Jaguars very happy. In 2021, he appeared in 11 games and hauled in 65 receptions for 936 yards with 13 touchdowns. His 4.4 speed and ability to stretch the field would bode well for Jacksonville’s offense.
