4. Jaguars potential OC candidate in 2022 – Dan Mullen

This may make the most sense and may be the most logical fit due to the connection to Urban Meyer. The Florida Gators recently gave Dan Mullen the pink slip after losing four of their last five games and leading them a 5-6 record. The Pennsylvania native was part of Meyer’s staff in Florida before he became the head coach at Mississippi State in December 2008.

After nine years with the Bulldogs, Mullen returned to Florida as their head coach. However, things didn’t go as planned as he’s out. Meyer has shown an affinity for bringing in people he’s previously worked with and Mullen would be a prime candidate to join his staff next offseason.

Meyer recently told the local media Friday he wanted the Jaguars’ offense to be a mix of college and pro concepts, and Mullen could help him make the necessary adjustments and fully install his vision.

After Meyer learned Mullen had been fired, he told the local media he was a close friend of his and would give him a call. It’s unknown what they both discussed on the phone call but there’s a chance they brainstormed the possibility of working together in Jacksonville. The two are in close contact, so it wouldn’t be shocking if Meyer invited Mullen to be part of his coaching staff.

Mullen could land in Jacksonville even if Darrell Bevell stays as their offensive coordinator, but he would be one of the first names that would pop up if the job becomes available.
