The gap between the Jaguars and the Colts is noticeable.

The Jaguars aren’t the only AFC South that has improved as the season has progressed. After losing three games, the Indianapolis Colts have won four of their last three. This isn’t shocking though. They have never lacked talent. They just hadn’t been able to get it to gel.

In Week 7, the Colts showed they can win in the elements and outlasted the San Franciso 49ers in the midst of a “cyclone bomb”. They ended up putting 30 points on the scoreboard and looking like a complete team. Quarterback Carson Wentz is proving Indy was right to trade him, completing 17-of-26 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Moreover, wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. is quickly becoming his favorite target. The USC product hauled in four targets for 105 yards and one trip to the end zone.

On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Darius Leonard and co. showed up. Sure, the Colts’ defense couldn’t stop 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell, who racked up 107 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. However, they held San Francisco to just 18 points, which is what matters.

Good teams take care of business against bad teams, and that’s precisely what the Colts did in Week 7. Both their offense and defense rank in the top half of the NFL, and are getting hot at the right time. If Indianapolis wins their next two games, they will be 5-4 when they welcome the Jaguars in Week 10.
