Jacksonville Jaguars player who must shine No. 3 – James Robinson

The Jaguars couldn’t get running back James Robinson involved in the first two weeks of the season. One big reason was that they fell behind and abandoned the run because they tried to catch up in both games.

On the bright side, things have changed in the last two weeks. Robinson had a season-high 18 carries and two touchdowns in Week 5. In the last two games, he has toted the rock 33 times for 166 yards and three touchdowns. Moreover, he’s averaging five yards per carry. Why would you not feed him the ball?

Robinson should have a field day against the Titans in Week 5. Although they’re giving up just 90 rushing yards per game in 2021, they rank 23rd in rushing touchdowns allow. The Jags don’t need to give 30 carries to the sophomore running back but they need to make him an important part of the game plan to avoid becoming one-dimensional on offense.

It’s possible that the Jaguars will attempt to run the ball more in Week 4 due to the absence of DJ Chark. This would mean an increased workload for Robinson. If he can keep up his yards-per-carry average or close to it, he should take some pressure off Trevor Lawrence’s shoulders.
