If the Jaguars don’t lose in Week 3, they will in Week 5 against the Titans.

If the Jaguars somehow find a way to beat the Cardinals, when will they lose their first game of the season? Not in Week 4, when they face off against the Cincinnati Bengals on primetime. Even though Cincy beat them in 2020, they were still a bad team and the Jags have improved more than their AFC North foe.

Sophomore Joe Burrow is coming off a serious injury and may not be at full strength by the time these teams see each other. The Bengals did a bad job of protecting their franchise quarterback and failed to upgrade their offensive line this offseason. 2021 could be a repeat of last year.

After this game, Jacksonville could be 2-1 or 3-0 after Week 4 but they will definitely drop their next game.

In Week 5, the Jags will play against the Tennesse Titans. Their divisional rivals beat them twice last year, and they are still the better team. Jacksonville couldn’t stop the Titans’ offense from scoring points last season and that will be the case again in 2021 with running back Derrick Henry paving the way.

While it would be great to see Jacksonville make the playoffs for the first time since 2017, they are in the early stages of a rebuild and need to show they can win consistently before they can think about the postseason. For that reason, winning three or four of their first five games would represent a meaningful step in the right direction.
