Cincinnati Bengals. 2. team. 56. . .

The Jacksonville Jaguars will face another team with a young quarterback.

The 2021 Jaguars aren’t very different from the 2020 Bengals. Both teams earned the top pick in the draft and both selected the best quarterback available, Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville’s case and Joe Burrow for Cincinnati. However, the similarities end there, as the Jags are trending up and seemingly making the right moves while Cincy looks lost and unsure of what they want to do next.

Last year, Burrow took sacks at an alarming rate. In just ten contests, he was sacked 32 times and ended up suffering a knee injury due to the Bengals’ faulty pass protection, so how did they address the situation? They drafted wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase fifth overall in this year’s selection meeting. As talented as the LSU standout is, Cincinnati needed to upgrade their offensive line, not another wide receiver, as they already had Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd.

Sure, Chase is a great addition to the Bengals’ wide receiver corps but if they can’t protect Burrow, he won’t have enough time to find his wide receivers and will spend more time running away from opposing defenses. If Jacksonville can consistently apply pressure, they will win their Thursday Night Football matchup, the only one they have in prime time in 2021.
