. . . New York Jets. 3. team. 30

The New York Jets almost traded places with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Looking at how things have played out and if Trevor Lawrence turns out to be as great in the NFL as he was at the collegiate level, the Jaguars will need to send a gift basket to the New York Jets every year for the rest of the eternity, as they, at one point, had the first overall pick in 2021’s draft. However, beating the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16 ensured that they would get the second overall selection in this year’s selection meeting and Jacksonville would clinch the top pick after losing against the Chicago Bears the same week.

Think about it, had the Jags had the second pick in the draft, they would have taken either Zach Wilson or Justin Fields. Both quarterbacks are fine players, but Lawrence has the most potential of the three and should have a more fruitful career in the NFL. Also, the Jags have done a good job surrendering their franchise quarterback with a myriad of offensive weapons this offseason.

Jacksonville is currently in better shape than the ‘Gang Green’ and seems like the better-rounded team. Also, both teams have new head coaches but as good as Robert Saleh was as the San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator the last few years, he will struggle to make the transition to head coach and the Jets will ultimately win fewer games than Jacksonville this season, including their 2021 Week 16 matchup.
