Jacksonville Jaguars: 5 bold predictions for 2021
C.J. Henderson will have at least 3 interceptions for the Jaguars
C.J. Henderson’s impact on the field as a rookie with the Jaguars was quickly felt last season despite his stats not showing for much. Henderson was shutting down some of the best wide receivers in the NFL, such as Indianapolis Colt T.Y. Hilton.
Henderson, unfortunately, suffered from a nagging shoulder injury last season, which forced him to miss half of the year. Henderson’s stats in 2020 through eight games were one interception, six passes defended, one forced fumble, and 36 tackles.
Barring any recovery setbacks, Henderson is set to make a big jump in 2021. Jacksonville may very well have found themselves a new interesting cornerback tandem in Henderson and newly signed free agent, Shaquill Griffin.
Griffin’s 2020 stats: Three interceptions, 12 starts, 63 tackles, 12 passes defended.
James Robinson won’t quite rush for 1,000 yards
Despite an unfortunate one-win season last year for the Jaguars, they received an unexpected surprise in undrafted rookie running back James Robinson. Robinson carried a significant load on his back in 2020 and was the highlight of the team during a bad year.
Robinson rushed for 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns last season. It will be interesting to see how new head coach Urban Meyer will work with the offensive coaching staff to re-invent the running game.
The Jaguars now have veteran Carlos Hyde on the roster to back up Robinson and the two will likely split significant carries in 2021. While I do expect Robinson to have another efficient season in Jacksonville, I don’t expect him to put up big numbers.
