The Jacksonville Jaguars’ should be pleased with James Robinson’s performance in 2020.

If you watched the Jacksonville Jaguars throughout the 2020 season, you might have had the urge to punch your television, as they weren’t very good more often than not. On the other hand, you probably saw rookie running back James Robinson, arguably their best offensive player, display his playmaking prowess week in and week out.

Ben Linsey of Pro Football Focus is aware of how good the Illinois State standout was this past season and named him 2020’s biggest running back surprise. He believes Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts had a better rookie season but points out Robinson played 641 snaps, the sixth most at the running back position.

Linsey adds that Phillip Lindsay was the only other undrafted rookie running back to play a high number of snaps in the past decade. Meanwhile, Derrick Henry of the Tennesse Titans was named the best running back in the same article, and Taylor the best rookie.

James Robinson will continue to play a big role for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Robinson was recently named to the Pro Football Writers Association All-Rookie team and is a finalist for the Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year award. Even though these accolades may not be as prestigious as a Pro Bowl nod or an All-Pro designation, it’s clear people noticed what the Jaguars’ running back did on the field in 2020.

Last season, Robinson racked up 289 touches for 1,414 scrimmage yards, the most by an undrafted rookie running back. Barring major injuries, he should play a big role in Jacksonville’s offense once again and could have even better production once the team addresses the quarterback position. Keep in mind he still averaged 4.5 yards per carry despite the fact opposing defenses made it a point to stop him,

If Robinson was good without decent quarterack play, imagine what he and the Jaguars’ offense could accomplish once they restock the roster this offseason. Can’t wait to see him pound the rock in 2021.
