Here’s a cornerback that should get the Jacksonville Jaguars’ attention.

Aaron Robinson was one of three playmakers the Knights had in their secondary last season. A three-star cornerback out of high school he accepted a scholarship offer from Florida before changing his mind and committing to  Alabama. He entered the transfer portal after his freshman campaign and joined the Knights in his sophomore year.

Although Robinson logged just one interception over his three-year career at UCF, he led the team in passes defensed last season. He doesn’t have elite speed and possesses average instincts. Nevertheless, he’s physical enough to jam receivers at the line of scrimmage and to be an asset against the run.

The 6-foot-1 cornerback lined up mainly in the slot throughout his collegiate career at UCF but has the size to play out wide. In 2020, he played 484 snaps in the slot and just 100 outside, per Pro Football Focus, so it would be interesting to see how he would fare in extended action as an outside corner.

On UCF’s Pro Day, Robinson ran an outstanding 4.39 40-yard dash. He also posted 15 reps on the bench press, a 37-inch vertical jump, and a broad jump of 10 feet, 3 inches. Draft analyst Chad Reuter of NFL Media sees the Florida native as a second-round selection and has the potential to be a Day 1 starter. However, the Jaguars wouldn’t need him to start right away and would have the chance to bring him along slowly, as their cornerback room is deep.
