The Jacksonville Jaguars should keep adding talent to their offensive line.

The Jaguars already placed the franchise tag on left tackle Cam Robinson. It’s a good thing that the Jaguars trust the Alabama standout and think he can improve in 2021 but it’s never a bad thing to add depth to the offensive line.

On the other hand, right tackle Jawaan Taylor has been a starter from Day 1 as a rookie and has appeared in every snap since then. However, he took a step back in 2020 after having a solid rookie season. Although there’s a high chance he could get back on track in 2021, the Jags should err on the side of caution in case either he or Robinson underperform and sign Alejandro Villanueva, one of the best offensive tackles still available in the open market.

Villanueva was the Pittsburgh Steelers starting left tackle from 2015 to 2020. He didn’t miss a game in that span and played every offensive snap in four of the last five seasons. Besides being durable, he’s been very consistent and has posted Pro Football Focus grades between 74.0 and 82.0 in each of the last five years. He’s 32 and it’s uncertain whether he would want to settle on a reserve role. However, the Jaguars should kick the tires on him and see if he’s interested in joining them.
