Aaron Jones can add explosiveness to Jacksonville Jaguars’ offense.

Aaron Jones has been a stud for the Green Bay Packers has logged over 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons. They know how much of an impact the Texas El-Paso standout has on their offense and have expressed interest in re-signing him albeit not on a top-tier running back contract.

The Packers have offered Jones more than $9 million per year, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. However, it’s unlikely he will get a top-market this offseason, not because he isn’t talented but rather because teams don’t pay premium for running backs.

Sure, Christian McCaffrey makes $16 million a year but he’s arguably the best running back in the NFL. There are a few backs that make more than $12 million per year but that’s the exception, not the norm and teams prefer to add running backs in the draft.

On the other hand, not many can score 37 touchdowns and average 5.2 yards per carry over a four-year span, which is precisely what Jones has done since joining the Packers in 2017. He is rightfully looking to maximize his earning in free agency but he may not get the contract he expects in the open market.

The Jaguars could have one of the best running back tandem in the league with Jones and James Robinson even though there’s no need for them to pay top-market money to a running back. However, if Jones’ asking price somehow became lower, Jacksonville should inquire about his services.
