Fisher’s old school approach may not fit with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fishers started his coaching career with the Chicago Bears in 1985 and would steadily move up the ladder until he became the Tennessee Titans head coach in 1994. He reached the championship game in 1999 but lost to the then St. Louis Rams. His tenure in Tennessee would last 17 years before he got fired in 2010 after finishing the year 6-10.

Although being let go is not a pleasant experience, Fisher was able to land on his feet and quickly found a job with the team he beat in Super Bowl 35, the Rams. He didn’t have much success in his second stint as a head coach and was fired in 2016 after posting a 77-31 record.

Taking a look at his resume, it’s easy to see why Fisher wasn’t able to win many games with the Rams. His old school philosophy of winning with a dominant defense and ball-control had become outdated. Moreover, his coaching staff was never able to develop a quarterback.

With Fisher at the helm, Rams quarterback Jared Goff looked like a bust, and although he isn’t an elite signal-caller, head coach Sean McVay has helped him reached his potential, something Fisher wasn’t able to do.

The Jaguars will likely draft a young quarterback prospect early in next year’s Player Selection Meeting, and Fisher doesn’t look like the correct person to develop whoever they end up choosing.
