1. Cam Robinson, left tackle

This may not be a popular decision, but the Jaguars shouldn’t retain Cam Robinson. Although the left tackle has been solid since the team drafted used a second-round selection in the 2017 players’ selection process, the Alabama standout will probably command premium compensation in the free-agent market.

There’s nothing wrong with players maximizing their compensation. In fact, they should get paid as much as they can while they can. Their window to earn top dollars is very limited and they must take advantage of it. Robinson should not be different and should be compensated as highly as he can.

The Jaguars could ask for a hometown discount, but Robinson should not give in. He should hit free agency, see what other teams are willing to pay him, and select the best suitor. Left tackles don’t grow on trees and it’s difficult to find an adequate one. The problem with that is that organizations will pay retail to average or above-average ones, and that’s precisely what the ‘Jags’ should avoid doing.

Next. Jaguars could've drafted these 4 players in the 2nd round. dark

This Jacksonville will have $83.99 million in cap space available in 2021, that doesn’t mean that they should spend it recklessly. Robinson is a good player, but not a great one. They should let other teams pay him handsomely.
