GARDNER MINSHEW – QUARTERBACK

The Jaguars have really never had a franchise quarterback. Therefore I can’t blame people for being skeptical about the sixth-round pick from Washington St. The Jaguars had a ton of issues during last season. However, Gardner Minshew led the team to a 6-6 record and showed a lot of promise.

Over the off-season, Minshew has been working out and looks like he has gotten stronger. He has put more zip on the ball, and that has been something that his critics last season complained about.

Minshew did a good job of extending plays. The locker room seems to enjoy having him as a leader. He is also a very competitive player. He is underrated because people are already looking for his replacement. If the Jaguars can build a strong team around him, he can lead the team to a possible championship in the future. In all honesty, Minshew should have gotten some consideration for Rookie of the Year last year.

If there is one area Minshew can improve on it would be consistency. In some games, the rookie looked phenomenal, but others he struggled mightily. While I do believe he could be the Jacksonville Jaguars answer for long term success if the roster doesn’t play with more consistency this season the Jaguars fans and the front office may want to move in a different direction.
