There is a trade partner for Nick Foles

The Jaguars are in a real bind here with quarterback Nick Foles, his contract and the play of  Minshew. As it stands, the former sixth-round draft pick has earned the right to come to camp as the starter and it is his job to lose.

But with a $22.125 million cap hit in 2020, there will be plenty of us who follow the team daily that wonder if the money will force the team’s hand to either start him, release him or find another willing team to trade for him. The Jaguars could find a team in need of a veteran willing to make a deal.

It would cost the Jaguars $33,875,000 to release Foles, which does not appear to be one of the plans the Jaguars hope to make. I can think of a few teams that may be interested, including the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles. Yes, the Eagles.

Another scenario could be one like the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns worked out in 2017 for quarterback Brock Osweiler. The Texans traded the quarterback to clear his $16 million salary off the team’s payroll.

Could the Jaguars do that as well?
