London: Jacksonville Jaguars to take on Green Bay Packers 2016
By Luke Sims
The Jacksonville Jaguars will be taking on one of the most storied franchises in NFL history in 2016. Per the Florida Times-Union, the Jags will be playing host to the Green Bay Packers in London at Wembley Stadium.
For Aaron Rodgers, this is something to cross of his bucket list. For the Jags, this is just a standard game after committing to play one home game a year in the UK from 2013-2016.
That Jaguars have to play host to the Buffalo Bills in 2015 before they get a crack at the Packers, but it will be a great game to look forward to no matter how the 2015 season shakes out.
The Jags have played some pretty successful teams in London in recent years, but taking on a franchise like the Packers will be one of the more exciting games for the London fan base. As one of the most storied franchises taking on one the youngest, we’ll be treated to seeing an old vs new both in terms of franchise and the players on the teams. The Jags are young and up and coming while the Packers an established contender year and year out. Hopefully the Jags will be able to pull off a win again Rodgers and co.
Green Bay is to be the 21st team to play in London for the NFL.
The Jags are also expected to announce another four year commitment to London during their 2015 game against the Bills on October 7. Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan is committed to expanding the Jags brand across the pond and helping the NFL continue to grow their brand over there as well. It’s a win-win for both the small-market Jags and the NFL as they seek non-traditional fans to fall in love with the sport of football (the American kind).
