A few days ago I wrote a piece on the unstoppable force that is Jaguars Nation on Twitter. Well as I mentioned in the article, anytime someone decides to tweet something ignorant and derogatory about the team, particularly about relocation… RIP their mentions.
Well today the highly esteemed NFL “reporter” for the New York Post Bart Hubbuch decided to take this particular misquote…
and jump to this idiotic conclusion:
Now we’re at the point where we should really just ignore asinine opinions like this because honestly they are based on the premise of having done no research into the stadium lease, attendance, and most importantly Shad Khan’s commitment to the team. But we’re a passionate fanbase, so we need to absolutely annihilate someone’s twitter when comments like this happen.
First you have the people who try to be rational and enlighten the individual who just made an ass of themselves on the internet…
then you have the fans who don’t want to waste their time…
and the fans who use facts…
and then there’s the trolltastic Jaguars reporter, who isn’t afraid to dispel the false narrative.
The problem with tweets like Bart’s about the Jaguars moving isn’t that they affect the people in Jacksonville or the fans, it’s that it perpetuates an outdated stereotype about the viability of a franchise in Jacksonville. So when Commissioner Goodell says the Jaguars might play two games in London at some point, people immediately speculate stupid things like the franchise moving there when really it shouldn’t even be part of the discussion.
I feel bad even writing this article because we as a fanbase should be ignoring nonsense like this. But for the time being, articles like this will be written, if only just to highlight the merciless Jaguar twitterbase.
