The veteran defensive end was released by Gene on the last day of February last year. Later he was signed by the New Orleans Saints in the offseason. Spicer was released on September 5, 2009 and remained a free agent until being re-signed by the Saints on January because of the injury of DE Charles Grant. He never saw action during the Saints amazing postseason; which ended up with beating the AFC Champion Indianapolis Colts at Super bowl XLIV. So he never played a minute; but Paul has reached the biggest success any NFL player can archive, a Super Bowl Ring! Grade for letting him go: A
