The Jacksonville Jaguars probably feel that they are right there on the cusp of being contenders for the Super Bowl.

Last year, they started 2-6 after making the number one overall selection for the second year in a row so things felt very shallow then.

From there, however, the tables turned. They won a majority of their games the rest of the way and ended up sneaking into the division lead to take the AFC South.

In their first playoff game, however, all of the good feelings went away quickly when they went down 27-0 to the Los Angeles Chargers.

In this new Jaguar fashion, however, they came all the way back and ended up winning the game. It was one of the most impressive wins in the history of the NFL.

A week later, they played against the Kansas City Chiefs who come into most years as the favorite to win the Super Bowl.

This magical run came up one touchdown short as the Chiefs advanced to the AFC Championship and eventually won the Super Bowl. The Jaguars were that close.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a lot of good moments coming up.

They were that close in year one of being good though. What happens now as the team progresses? Well, it starts with proving that they can do it again.

One player that helped them reach that level was Evan Engram. After coming over from the New York Giants, Engram helped Trevor Lawrence take the offense to new heights.

That is how they became so lethal as a team. They scored tons of points. Now, they have to do it again in 2023 and beyond.

There was worry that Engram wouldn't be back for much longer. He was going to play on a franchise tag this year but he has since signed a three-year extension. That is amazing news for him and the team.

The Jaguars should be legit Super Bowl contenders in the AFC now for the duration of Engram's three-year deal. The hope is that it goes beyond that but with him in there as a tight end, the offense can really cook with fire.

If the defense even comes close to matching the production of the offense, big things could happen for them. It is great to have Engram in Jacksonville.
