The Jacksonville Jaguars are a team that took big steps in 2022. They had a rough 2-6 start but they came all the way back from that to win the AFC South.

It was a remarkable year for them as they are taking more and more steps after making two number-one overall picks in a row.

One of those number one picks is Trevor Lawrence who is becoming one of the elite quarterbacks in the National Football League.

After 2023, he might be considered one of those top-tier guys like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow. There are going to be no problems with the Jaguars offense.

The Jacksonville Jaguars defense needs to take a big step this season.

On the other hand, they had a defense that was in the bottom third of the league. They were obviously good enough to be a playoff defense but they can take more steps.

They can sign one of the free-agent edge rushers available, continue developing the young guys that they have there, and see some of the stars take leaps.

All of these things are ways for them to improve. They have talent on that side of the ball and can put it all together this year with another addition or two.

Eventually, you'd hope that the Jaguars' defense matches the talent and production of the offense. At a minimum, it would be nice to see them in the same ballpark. If that were to happen, they would for sure be up there as one of the Super Bowl favorites.

When you think about all of the teams that are contenders each year, they all have outstanding quarterbacks, a good coach, and a defense that can make stops at the right times.

The Jaguars have two of those things locked down. Getting that defense back to a great level has to be the focus for the rest of the off-season. There are players both in-house and on the outside that can help them make it happen.
