5 Jaguars games that should be in primetime in 2024 (but probably won't)
The NFL and their broadcast partners have begun to leak a few matchups for the 2024 season ahead of the schedule release. So far, none of the leaks have involved the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to a rumor, they were supposed to face the Tennessee Titans on the first Thursday Night bout of the year in Week 2 but the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins got that game.
Looking at the Jaguars schedule, some of the games have primetime potential. Granted, they won't probably get more than two based on their 2023 record but any of the next five most definitely deserve to be held under the national spotlight.
Jaguars @ or vs. Houston Texans
The Jaguars paved the way for the Houston Texans to win the division in 2024 when they lost five of their last six games to end the season. They surely aren't pleased with how things ended and will be looking to reclaim the AFC South. The trouble is that Houston stepped on the gas pedal in the offseason.
Already loaded with lots of talent on both sides of the ball, the Texans signed defensive end Danielle Hunter and traded for wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Add the fact that C.J. Stroud should make strides in his sophomore campaign and they could be a tough team to beat. That said, Jacksonville wasn't resting on their laurel and also restocked their roster.
Having Arik Armstead on the interior defensive line should be of great help. Also, center Mitch Morse will bring stability to the middle of the offensive line, so the Jaguars should have a favorable chance of controlling the lines of scrimmage.
The Jaguars and Houston have split the series the past two seasons. Based on the moves and overall roster talent, they should once again split it, but one of the games should most definitely get the primetime treatment.
