No. 1 player who could help the Jaguars immediately: Conor Galvin, OT
The Jaguars have lots of star power going into the 2023 season. They also have depth at most position groups but they're thin at offensive tackle. While they have a pair of standouts in Walker Little and Anton Harrison protecting the edges, they could be in trouble if either one goes down in the upcoming weeks. As of this writing, they're the only two offensive tackles on the roster.
Veteran Josh Wells was slated to be the top backup at the position next season but he injured his abductor during joint practices with the Detroit Lions ahead of Week 2 of the preseason and will miss the whole year. That wouldn't be an issue if Cam Robinson, a fixture on the offensive line since the Jags drafted him in 2017 were available but he'll serve a four-game suspension to start the 2023 season.
Maybe the Jaguars bring back either Blake Hance or Bobby Evans once they clear waivers but another option would be rookie Conor Galvin. The former Baylor standout went undrafted this year but turned heads in the preseason with a strong performance. In fact, it was a bit shocking to see the Detroit Lions waive him.
Galvin will be a highly coveted commodity in the wire but that shouldn't deter the Jaguars from putting in a claim on him, even if there's a chance another club will get to him first. After all, you miss 100 percent of the chances you don't take and Galvin could be a potential diamond on the rough who may reach his potential if he's given the chance.
