1. Tee Higgins, wide receiver

One potential free agent whose been strongly linked to Jacksonville in recent weeks is wide receiver Tee Higgins, and it's easy to see why. First, they could have a need at the position if they let Calvin Ridley hit the open market. Also, Higgins has previously caught Trevor Lawrence and their connection was a big reason Clemson was one of the top programs in the country in the late 2019s.

The fact that the Cincinnati Bengals may not be able to pay both Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase makes the former an exciting option to replace Ridley. Having said that, there are few roadblocks that could prevent Jacksonville from locking up Higgins in free agency. For starters, he'll be in high demand, so he'll get to choose where to go, most likely the highest bidder. Also, general manager Trent Baalke was effusive when talking about Calvin Ridley in his end-of-the-season press conference.

The Jaguars will need to give the Atlanta Falcons a second-round pick if they extend Ridley as part of the trade they made to acquire him in 2022. If they don't re-sign him, it will be only a third. However, Baalke said he wants to bring Ridley back, so either he'll give him a new deal or use the franchise tag. Regardless of the route the Jags take to keep the Alabama product around, also bringing in Higgins would be cost-prohibitive

Keep in mind that Baalke was behind the Ridley trade, so he'll do anything within his power to make it work. Then again, it's not necessarily a bad thing. He tallied 1,016 yards with eight touchdowns despite the fact that he hadn't played in the NFL since 2021. Also, Ridley may be a better all-around player than Higgins, so Jacksonville may feel tempted to go for the devil they know.
