The Jaguars must go 4-2 in the AFC South in 2024

Thomas Valentine of Pro Football Focus ranked the AFC South as the seventh strongest division in 2024. However, three potential playoff contenders, along with a sleeper in the Tennessee Titans, reside in it, so opponents cannot afford to take them lightly. Similarly, the Jaguars can't overlook their division foes.

The Houston Texans remain the team to beat and the Indianapolis Colts were in the thick of the playoff race for most of 2023. With Anthony Richardson expected to be at full strength after suffering a shoulder injury last year, Indy could prove to be tough to beat.

The Titans, on the other hand, aren't as battle-tested as their AFC South counterparts, with first-time head coach Brian Callaham calling the shots. Having said that, they made enough moves in the offseason to make you think that they'll be competitive more often than not. Besides getting sophomore quarterback Will Levis a pair of new targets in Tyler Boyd and Calvin Ridley, Tennessee traded for cornerback L'Jarius Sneed, and they didn't have to pay a fortune for him.

This is to say that the Jaguars won't be able to run away with the division even if they improve as much as expected. While they swept the Colts last year, they split the series with both Tennessee and the Texans. There's a chance that Jacksonville will be able to win both games against the Titans, but it's hard to see them sweeping either Indianapolis or Houston.

If the Jaguars want to make the playoffs and then start a potential run, they'll need to finish no worse than 4-2 in division games next year. Beating the Buffalo Bills and extending their winning streak to three games will also come in handy in postseason seeding.
