Jarrian Jones is already forcing the Jaguars into a dream dilemma

The Jacksonville Jaguars are surely thrilled that Jourdan Lewis is back for the start of training camp after missing the offseason program. Lewis was arguably the team's best cornerback and a prominent veteran voice last year, so having him back is huge. That said, he isn't the only corner turning heads in Duval. Jarrian Jones is also making plays and could end up giving the Jags a tough decision.

Jones got off to a strong finish to 2025 and has picked up where he left off. He's batted several on the first few days of training camp but left the best for Day 3.

Trevor Lawrence targeted wide receiver Parker Washington, but Jones made a diving interception. He had another pick and a pass deflection.

Plays like that will make it hard for Jones to stay on the sidelines next season.

Jarrian Jones has been a standout at Jaguars training camp

Head coach Liam Coen met with the local media after Day 3 of training camp. He heaped praise on Jarrian Jones, noting that his physicality and anticipation allow him to make plays.

"I thought today [Jarrian] had a really nice day. You know, got his hands on a lot of balls today," Coen told the local media (4:40 mark). "I mean, he's physical. When he plays with anticipation and just plays free, and he's not overthinking it. And we're not maybe putting him in positions to overthink; he's able to just go play, and he's a physical dude at the line of scrimmage."

Coen continued, "He likes to be up front and challenge people in their faces. He likes to do those things, and so we got to continue to put him in positions that he's you know he can be successful. But I've been really pleased with Jarrian."

A third-round pick in 2024, Jones has shown playmaking skills dating back to his rookie season. Although the Florida State Seminole got off to a rough start to 2025, he bounced back and finished the year strong.

In two seasons, Jones has racked up four interceptions and 16 passes defensed. The Jacksonville secondary could use that kind of production next season.

Jarrian Jones could give the Jaguars a good problem

Jarrian Jones can play in the boundaries but may be better suited to line up in the slot. That could be an issue in Duval. After all, Montaric Brown and Travis Hunter will tentatively start outside, while Jourdan Lewis is the primary nickel. That leaves Jones without a feature role, but if he keeps making plays like he has throughout training camp, the Jaguars won't be able to keep him on the sidelines.

Perhaps Jones can line up in the boundaries to spell Hunter, who will continue to play two ways next season. Maybe he could split time with Lewis. Either way, Jacksonville needs to find a way to put the former Florida Seminole on the football field.

It didn't seem like it in the offseason, but the Jaguars built a pretty good cornerback room to the point that they have too many good corners. That's the kind of problem every team would love to have.
