The Jacksonville Jaguars were in dire need of cornerback help in 2025, so it wasn't surprising to see them lock up Jourdan Lewis in free agency. That said, the signing was a bit odd because Lewis had mostly lined up at nickel during his stint with the Dallas Cowboys, and the Jags needed reinforcements in the boundaries. He quickly proved that the concerns were unfounded, though, as he came through when he played outside.
Long story short, Lewis quickly became a staple of the Jacksonville secondary. Unfortunately, suffered a foot injury in Week 16 that brought his first season in Duval to an abrupt end. The good news is that the veteran cornerback is back in the fold after spending the offseason recovering from surgery.
Jourdan Lewis is back for Jaguars training camp
Jourdan Lewis missed the offseason program while he recovered from the aforementioned foot injury. He was back for the first day of camp. Although he didn't make any game-altering plays, it was encouraging to see him take part in team drills without restrictions.

On Day 2, though, Lewis had a batted pass that Trevor Lawrence threw to Parker Washington, so he's quickly picking up where he left off last year. With fellow cornerbacks Montaric Brown and Travis Hunter expected to start in the boundaries, Lewis should go back to his familiar nickel spot. That said, he could see playing time outside in case Hunter catches a break because he'll also continue playing receiver next season.
Either way, Lewis doesn't appears to be a full go two days into training camp, and the coaching staff will surely find a way to get the most out of him and the rest of the cornerback group.
The Jaguars missed Jourdan Lewis late in 2025
Jourdan Lewis was back for Day 1 of training camp after missing the offseason program. Even better, not only did he do individual drills but also practiced with the first team, showing that he's back at full strength.
Jourdan Lewis signed a three-year deal worth $30 million in 2025. He was named team captain and was arguably Jacksonville's best cornerback last year, registering two interceptions and four passes defensed while posting a Pro Football Focus overall grade of 67.2.
As mentioned before, Lewis suffered a foot injury late in the season, and the Jaguars sorely missed him. Looking back, it's fair to wonder just how much of a difference he would've made if he had played against the Buffalo Bills in a playoff loss in which Josh Allen had no trouble shredding the Jags secondary to pieces.
Having said that, it's not very useful to dwell on the past. Instead, the Jaguars are fully focused on climbing the mountain once again next season. Having Jourdan Lewis back should most definitely help.
