After an electrifying rookie campaign, Brian Thomas Jr. dealt with a sophomore slump last year. The good news is that the former LSU Tiger had a strong offseason and looks like a good bet to bounce back in 2026.
Thomas had a strong training camp, and his rapport with Trevor Lawrence has improved substantially. Not surprisingly, the Jags made it clear that they weren't trading him in spite of the speculation.
Fast forward to the season opener, and Thomas had three catches for a solid 40 yards. However, he briefly left the game with a shoulder injury but returned. Nevertheless, he popped up on the injury report in the days preceding the Week 2 game against the Denver Broncos. This begs the question, what's No. 7's status? Will he play? Below is a full breakdown.
Brian Thomas Jr. will be a full-go for the Jaguars vs. the Broncos in Week 2
Brian Thomas Jr. only played 20 snaps after leaving (and later returning) in the win over the Cleveland Browns. He was a limited participant in a couple of practices ahead of Week 2 but didn't get a designation for the game. That means he'll be a full-go.
Last year, Thomas caught 48 passes for 707 yards with two touchdowns. Precisely because he's coming off a down season, he was ranked No. 38 among receivers in ESPN's Fantasy Big Board.

What kind of impact will have Brian Thomas Jr. vs. the Broncos in Fantasy Football
The issue with Brian Thomas Jr. and any other receivers on the Jaguars roster is that usage will change from week to week. Parker Washington caught a team-best five receptions for 83 yards in the season opener, while Thomas had three catches for 40 yards. However, it's hard to tell who will be the top target in Week 2.
When Jacksonville played the Broncos in 2025, Patrick Surtain mostly covered Thomas, paving the way for Washington to have a monster game in which he hauled in six catches for a jaw-dropping 145 yards with a touchdown.
If Surtain shadows Washington this time around, Thomas could be the one with the most targets. That said, don't forget that Jacksonville likes to spread the ball. In Week 1, Trevor Lawrence targeted 10 different players (and nine caught at least one pass).
On the other hand, no other Jaguars receiver possesses Thomas' deep-threat capabilities. He can take off on any given Sunday and is worth a roster spot on your fantasy team because of his upside.
