2. The Jacksonville Jaguars trade LB Chad Muma, pick for Darius Slay

The last time the Eagles drafted a linebacker in the first round was in 1979, when they took Jerry Robinson with the 21st overall pick. Simply, the linebacker position doesn’t rank high on Philly’s big board in most years. However, they will probably need to find a replacement for T.J. Edwards, who is coming off a productive season and is scheduled to become a free agent.

Edwards is 26th in Pro Football Focus’ 2023 list of the top 200 players set to hit the open market, and the Eagles should brace themselves for the possibility of losing him. One way to replace him would be to acquire sophomore linebacker Chad Muma.

Even though the Jacskonville Jaguars had taken Devin Lloyd in the first round, they chose Muma in the third. Lloyd missed time in training camp with a hamstring injury, which paved the way for Muma to get crucial reps. At midseason, the Jags benched Lloyd in favor of Muma, who ended up registering 47 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, and one pass defensed.

If the Jaguars are fully committed to Lloyd, they should then consider putting together a trade package for Darius Slay that includes Muma and a fourth-round pick — they got an extra one from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Simply, the Jaguars are better off trading Muma and getting a playmaker in return rather than keeping him on the bench.
